Stop Being a Maggu

Stop Being a Maggu reflects the struggles and challenges faced by most aspirants in India, who appear for any competitive exam and think of themselves as “average students” while ignoring their true potential, for no one is a born topper. Efforts have to be put into becoming one.

It is the story of Abhyas (who is more popular by the name maggie) at Genius Coaching Institute, who wants to crack JEE and dreams of getting into an IIT to make his parents proud. But life is seldom easy for those who dream.

Abhyas discovers he’s merely a dot in the lakhs of students who prepare and compete for JEE. His high self-esteem fizzles out in a few days as he meets unexpected peer pressure, forcing him to work on a new strategy.

On his journey, he makes some friends, encounters some bullies, and faces his worst fears. But most importantly, he finds a mentor in another aspirant who pushes him to look beyond the ordinary and escape his rigid mindset.

Though the book revolves around preparing for JEE, Abhyas’ story is helpful for every student preparing for any competitive exam. It highlights the mistakes most students make and shares a roadmap of how they can learn from them.

After all, Toppers also make a lot of mistakes but the only difference is that they identify and ensure that they don’t repeat them and that is what makes them stand out.
