Hachette India is thrilled to announce the publication of the new book by Roopa Pai – The Yoga Sutras for Children

Scheduled to be released on 27 June 2023, the book connects and relates the practice of Yoga to children’s everyday lives and helps them use their mind power to bring out the best in themselves. Peppered with ‘Think’ and ‘Do’ sections for a wholesome and interactive experience, the book shares Maharishi Patanjali’s techniques to nurture energies and attitudes, enabling them to do small and big things in a focused and balanced way. Featuring powerful black-and-white artwork by Sayan Mukherjee, the book helps young readers to approach their increasingly complex lives with positivity and confidence.

Announcing the release, author Roopa Pai said: ‘Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras (YS) are much less known than the Gita or the Upanishads, but they are really the 'lab practicals' to the luminous 'theory lessons' of the former; they make up the ultimate handbook for mind control. It seemed to me that Patanjali was the best kind of teacher – one who not only had the tools to turn his students into clear-thinking, laser-focused mind-ninjas, but also knew how to inspire and challenge them so that they stayed the course. That’s exactly what I hope the mysterious, mischievous Maharishi P in my book will do for young readers.’

On publishing the book, Vatsala Kaul Banerjee, Publisher, Children’s and Young Adult Books, at Hachette India remarked: ‘The very gifted Roopa Pai once again brings an ancient classic text close to children, who will be surprised and fascinated by how much it can help them become calmer, clear-headed and more confident.’

ABOUT THE BOOK

What are the Yoga Sutras?

Instructions for bearded rishis who lived in the forests of ancient India? Or the complete manual of asanas?

Neither!

In fact, the text may well have been called ‘Maharishi P’s Ultimate Handbook of Mind Control’, for it is really a set of techniques to help us – all of us – awaken and harness the explosive power of our minds, through our actions, our attitudes and our awareness.

And not through asanas? Those too, but not in the way you imagined it.

In this surprising, sparkling book, Roopa Pai unravels the secrets of Patanjali’s compact 2,000-year-old text in ways both fun and accessible. Walk down the well-marked paths into a dazzling world where a whole new version of yourself – self-assured, fearless and free – awaits you.
