Hachette India announces the publication of History Hunters: Akbar and the Agents from the East by Shruti Garodia and Archana Garodia Gupta, bestselling authors of The History of India for Children.

Second, in the adventurous time-travel series, this book hits the stands today. Laced with vivid illustrations by Priya Kuriyan, it also contains a 24-pager fact tracker section with fascinating little-known snippets from Mughal emperor Akbar’s reign and personalities such as Birbal, Abul Fazl, and Jahangir.

The feisty four – Zoya, Noor, Ansh, and Rohan – and their endearing elephant friend Elfu have only just recovered from being flung back thousands of years to a bloody battlefield (History Hunters: Chandragupta Maurya and the Greek Onslaught). Before they know it, they are being whirled once again through time – and land at the court of the powerful Mughal emperor Akbar. Sent by the mysterious billionaire who lives next door to their Goa resort, this time the youngsters must dodge poisoned robes, outsmart hidden assassins, beat fierce warriors, and even escape execution by an elephant. Join the sometimes audacious, sometimes heroic, and often plain lucky ‘History Hunters’ as they brave the dazzling, baffling world of the Mughals, and attempt a safe return to their times.

Announcing the release, author Shruti Garodia said: ‘The lavish, larger than life Mughal court was a joy to write about. Akbar’s court had so many exceptional people – we just had to fit them ALL in…specially Birbal, everyone's favorite!’

‘The vibrant multicultural and liberal environment of Akbar's court was far ahead of its time. Personally, I really enjoyed researching the food they ate – the dishes were so intricate and elaborate, but are unfortunately not available anywhere today…’, co-author Archana Garodia Gupta added.

The authors have been doing school sessions and have had exciting and heartening feedback from children.

Shruti Garodia is the co-author of A History of India for Children Vols I & II (Hachette India, 2018), which have been on bestseller lists since its debut. Shruti graduated from Cornell University, USA, and holds degrees in engineering and finance. She has lived in New York and London during her career in banking.

Archana Garodia Gupta is the co-author of the bestselling A History of India for Children Vols I & II and the author of The Women Who Ruled India (Hachette India, 2019). A leading national quizzer, she has won the ‘Champion of Champions’ title from BBC’s Mastermind India and is regularly seen on national television as an expert on the immensely popular Kaun Banega Crorepati. She holds an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad, and is the founder of Touchstone, a digital-first jewelry brand.
