Winters are ending and so is the season of book fairs. At the end of February, the ongoing Agartala book fair is the centre for book lovers to satisfy their literature craving. The book fair has opened its gates for all the book lovers on 26th Feb.
The 12 days long book fair is inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb. The book fair was by observing a minute of silence in honour of slain martyrs at the Pulwama attack.
The number of stalls in the bookfair has decreased compared to the previous year. The reason behind the downfall in numbers of stalls participating in book fair is the controversy about the venue of the event.
There are several artists participating in the event and celebrating the culture of literature. The book fair committee has also organised 12 awards like – Atal Bihari Vajpayee Lifetime Achievements in combined feats, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Integration Award for outstanding contribution in the field of social service, Best Publication Award in Bengali and Kokborok languages and other awards as well.
