This award is given to teachers every year on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Retired teachers will also be able to participate in this process, but only those teachers who have served a part of the calendar year (at least for four months i.e. up to April 30 in the year to which National Awards relate) will be able to apply.
Teachers applying for the award will be assessed with two criteria – an objective criterion and a performance-based criterion.
Each of the teachers who have applied for NAT will be given a score against the objective criteria. These criteria are given 20 weightage out of 100.
Eligible teachers will be rewarded based on their performance, including learning outcomes, their innovative experiments, organization of extra- and co-curricular activities, use of teaching-learning materials, social mobility, experimental learning assurance, unique ways to ensure physical education to students and etc. this particular criterion has given a weightage of 80 out of 100.
Each nominee selected by the State Committee and the OSC will appear before an independent jury at the national level. The jury shall select 45 names from the list and two teachers in Special Category for differently-abled teachers etc.
