Dr. T. Sumathy (a) Thamizhachi Thangapandian weaves myriad themes and stories with her latest work, ‘The Throb of Silence,’ which was released on the 28th March 2023 at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, from 06:00 PM to 09:00. ‘The Throb of Silence’ is a translated collection of Thamizhachi’s poetry done by Mr. K.S. Subramanian. Thamizhachi Thangapandian is a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from the South Chennai Constituency, a teacher and scholar of literature, a widely- acclaimed Tamil poet, translator, theatre performer, lyricist, and writer with more than 20 publications to her name.

The book was launched by A. Raja, Member of Parliament. The first copy and special copy of the book were received by Members of Parliament, Tiruchi Siva, and Supriya Sule, respectively. Dr. Sonal Mansingh, Indian Classical Dancer and Member of Parliament; Dr. Lakshmi Kannan, Poet, Writer, and Translator; Professor H.S. Shivaprakash, Poet and Playwright and Dr. A.J. Thomas, Poet and Translator also graced the event. ‘The Throb of Silence’ represents the seamless continuity of human kinship with ancestors, posterity, and this environment we share with other beings.

As a poet, Thamizhachi represents the richness of our heritage rooted in village life. Bringing a possibility of hope, she invokes the persona of Vanapechi, her ancestral deity, and spirit. Even though the modern world mutilates and murders, it is not yet a lost hope or ineffectual memory of the sweet past. Thamizhachi's alternative reality of Vanapechi is brought to life through poetic epiphanies.
