Authors hold sway over children at literature festival.
The two-day Madurai Children’s Literary Festival ended on a colourful note on Sunday with lots of children, parents and teachers taking part in interactive sessions of storytelling, reading, art and craft workshops. There were about 20 sessions by popular children’s authors from across India. Resource persons from Kathakamamishu, a storytelling group based in Chennai, engaged the children with a highly innovative storytelling format, in which the children were made to move around the campus, adding some physical activity to storytelling. Khyrunnisa A, a well-known children’s author, conducted a reading session. Vikram Sridhar, a popular storyteller reeled out interesting stories for children with animated expressions and voice modulation. A hands-on workshop on composting was demonstrated and the children and parents found it extremely useful. Aruna Visveswar, correspondent of Adhyapana School, and Shanthi Mohan, Principal of Lakshmi School, delivered talks at the valedictory function.
