The 72nd Republic Day parade saw 100 meritorious students from schools and colleges get the chance to watch the Republic Day parade from Prime Minister's box.

  • Last year, 105 CBSE toppers and university toppers got the chance to watch the 71st Republic Day Parade. A few major Major Republic Day attractions were missing due to Covid-19. As per the Ministry of Education, around 100 meritorious students got the chance to view the Republic Day parade today from the Prime Minister’s box. The ministry had announced on Sunday that at least 100 students from schools and colleges would get this opportunity and would also get to meet Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. Of these students, 50 were from schools and 50 from higher education institutions. Happy to share that meritorious students across the country will be given a chance to witness the #RepublicDay2021 parade from the Prime Minister's Box. They will also have a chance to meet and interact with the Minister of Education, Govt. of India Shri @DrRPNishank, the Ministry of Education had tweeted. Last year, 105 CBSE toppers and university toppers got the chance to watch the 71st Republic Day Parade from the Prime Minister’s box.

    Major Republic Day attractions missing due to Covid-19

    Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the major attraction of gravity-defying stunts by motorcycle-borne men was missing this year. The crowd was also reduced to 25000, officials had informed on Friday. Another major attraction, the parade by gallantry awardees and children who won bravery awards was also missing this year due to social distancing norms. Moreover, there was no chief guest at the 72nd Republic Day parade. The total number of Republic Day event participants was cut down from 600 to 401 as well so that there is no overcrowding.
