Children’s Literature Conference Inaugurates at Pakistan Academy of Letters

The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) in this city on Monday opened a three-day international conference themed "Children's Literature: Past, Present, and Future."

Engineer Amir Muqam, the adviser to the prime minister, spoke at the opening ceremony and predicted that the conference will be crucial in fostering children's potential and intellectual development. According to Amir Muqam, children's literature and storytelling can contribute to fostering pupils' growth and welfare.

He said that because it offers information and amusement, children's literature plays a significant role in education. According to Amir Muqam, the primary goals of PAL are to endeavor to advance Pakistani literature and the well-being of its authors.

"It is our understanding that various groups of people and Pakistani society may be better via the development of literature and the welfare of the authors," Amir Muqam continued.

PM's advisor praised the Pakistan Academy of Letters for helping to advance literary endeavors in the nation. The yearly nature of this meeting was proclaimed by Amir Muqam. In addition, he made a special prize announcement for academics researching children's literature.

The PM's advisor suggested that rather than destroying our children's futures with falsehoods, we could direct them toward constructive endeavors. He asserted that diverting children's attention is not serving the interests of the country.

He advocated for involving kids in constructive activities and teaching them how to be decent citizens. He asked the authors to offer their ideas for enhancing efforts to promote rural writing. The honorable guest during the event was Senator Irfan Siddiqui. Fareena Mazhar, the secretary of national heritage and culture, and Dr. Yousuf Khushk, the president of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, were also present.

Irfan Siddiqui, a senator, stated that funding was needed to promote children's literature and that those who study it should be recognized. He claimed that in the past, parents used to read books to their kids, which piqued their interest in doing so.

In expressing her thanks, the Secretary of National Heritage and Culture said that today's event is evidence that the current administration fully understands the value of literature. One of its primary focuses, according to her, is supporting initiatives to promote Pakistani literature, particularly children's literature. She claimed that children were a country's greatest asset. The three-day international conference was organized by PAL in partnership with Daira IIlm-o-Adab Pakistan, according to the head of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), who spoke earlier.

He said that both national and foreign authors, academics, researchers, and storytellers from all around the nation were invited to present their works of literature, ideas, and children's literature at the conference.

He said that key elements of children's literature, such as their importance and potency as well as their growth in both national and international languages, will be highlighted during the conference.

Children's literature in the digital age, children's interests and potential futures, tradition, patriotism, and challenges in children's literature with workable answers will all be covered throughout the three-day conference. Throughout the three-day conference, 11 seminars covering various facets of children's literature will be held. Depending on the situation, some international literary experts will participate in the conference online while others will attend the three-day conference.
