Bilaspur first Digital Library Launch

The first digital library in Himachal Pradesh, featuring around 2,500 books, was inaugurated today in Bilaspur by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The library provides offline access to NCERT and CBSE books for students in Classes I to XII. With the necessary indulgences, the digital library has a seating capacity of 40 individuals.

Sukhu mentioned that readers would find college course materials, competitive exam resources, and various educational texts in the library. “The library allows free access to reading materials via touchscreen devices, servers, and social media platforms. It uses RFID technology to implement a smart management system that benefits users by streamlining library operations. To improve user experience, every reader will be given an ID card that needs to be scanned for entry into the library,” he stated.

The district library features a spacious reading area, an e-library, computer tablets, appropriate furniture, and other necessary student facilities. A network of CCTV cameras monitors it.

Sukhu engaged with students at the digital library and reaffirmed his government’s dedication to integrating digital technology and improving civic amenities. The students expressed that these enhancements significantly enriched their learning experiences, making study time more enjoyable and effective.

The Chief Minister also opened a new Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau facility, constructed for Rs 1.67 crore. Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, HPTDC Chairman RS Bali, former minister Ram Lal Thakur, and former MLAs Bumber Thakur and Tilak Raj were present for the occasion.
