Veer Kunwar Singh University, named after the famed national hero and legendary liberation fighter, plans to expand its library collection with new books. The addition of books is in line with the new curriculum, which uses the credit system at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This project is expected to assist about 96,000 newly enrolled students across a variety of courses.

The decision to purchase new books for Veer Kunwar Singh University's library is important, as it represents the first such attempt in 11 years. The relocation aims to improve the library's resources to better meet students' educational needs. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will assess the effort.

Currently, the central library at VKSU confronts issues because it stores mostly ancient literature. The procurement of new books is especially important because postgraduate courses were started at the institution in 2018, and suitable resources were missing.

Professor Shailendra Kumar Chaturvedi, Vice-Chancellor of VKSU, emphasised the value of books as vital assets in every educational institution. He indicated that the new volumes, which are projected to be available in the central library by February 2024, will help students conduct study in their various subjects.

The last big book addition to VKSU's central library occurred in 2012, costing more than a crore. However, this move sparked widespread outrage, prompting a scam probe that reached the Bihar Legislative Council. Despite several inquiry committees, the library's condition did not improve much. The current attempt to purchase additional volumes aims to solve this and improve the overall condition of the library.

Veer Kunwar Singh University, in Arrah, Bihar, was established on October 22, 1992, under the Bihar University Act of 1976. The institution plays an important role in offering quality education to students, and the addition of new books is a positive step towards supporting academic endeavours.
