The 47th International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) will start on January 18, a week earlier than usual, and continue until the last week of January. This year, the theme country is Britain, and the guild authorities have already begun accepting applications from publishers in the state.

The International Kolkata Book Fair 2023 commenced on January 31. The organizers made the wise decision to move up the fair's schedule to grant book enthusiasts two more state holidays. The fair was graced with the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who inaugurated it on January 18.

There is a massive turnout at the International Kolkata Book Fair on both weekdays and holidays. The 46th International Kolkata Book Fair had Spain as its focal theme country. Over 950 stalls were set up, and the fair was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on January 30. The Kolkata book fair organizers even provided live streaming of all events and launches at the annual carnival. Publishers and authors from around the world, including the US, UK, France, Italy, Japan, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, Australia, Iran, and Bangladesh, had their stalls at the fair. Thailand also joined the bandwagon as the new guest in the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair.
