Students Can Now Become Published Writers; CBSE Budding Authors Programme Ushers in a New Era of Learning

Indore: All students from grades 5 to 10 can now become authors and have their work published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Students can learn about story elements and become proficient writers through the CBSE Budding Authors Programme. The new learning method mentioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 inspired the development of the program.

Students can submit their stories in Hindi or English in the three categories listed below:

Effective Learning

'The CBSE Budding Authors Programme aims to provide a platform for students to engage in reading various types of stories and learning to write effectively.' Students will be able to express their creativity and have their short stories published if they write and submit them as part of this program.'

'Three-step program'

'The program is in three stages, and we're currently in the first, where students are being informed about it and asked to share sample writings. According to CBSE guidelines, all schools will hold the contest during school hours, with students creating and writing short stories in either English or Hindi.

Following the initial round, the schools will shortlist and choose two students from each category by September 16, 2022. After registration, students will begin to participate in the program in the following phase.'

Original works only; no fee

The CBSE reiterates that there is NO FEE for participating in the program.

In Phase 2, students are expected to submit an original, unpublished short story written in English or Hindi. This will be certified by the head of the school. A plagiarism check and the principal’s recommendation will be taken before the winners are announced.

Budding authors may submit short stories on all themes (all styles, genres, and types of writing) in compliance with the content guidelines of the CBSE Budding Authors Programme.

Stories submitted will be licensed under the CC BY4.0 license.

Copyright remains with the author, but the CBSE reserves the right to be the first to publish the selected works. Submissions would be judged on literary merit, originality, and readability. All final decisions rest with the CBSE.
