Salman Rushdie, who received the coveted Peace Prize of the German Book Trade on Sunday for continuing to write despite decades of threats and murder, urged for the absolute support of freedom of expression. According to a German media report, the British-American novelist condemned the contemporary era as one in which freedom of expression is under attack from all sides, including authoritarian and populist voices.
