Rodando Páginas

Rodando Páginas. Del libro a las pantallas (lit. “Shooting Pages. From Book to Screens”) was established in 2018 to encourage the creation of audiovisual and film works based on literary adaptations. It is an annual gathering that promotes synergies between the publishing and audiovisual industries, as well as the promotion of new stories and their adaptation to an audiovisual language and various types of screens. As a result, it is a must-attend event for authors, editors, and literary agencies looking for new ways to monetize their works, facilitating contacts with audiovisual producers, television channels, and platforms with a strong demand for content.

The fifth edition of the event will take place on June 6 and 7 at the Eugenio Trás Library in Retiro Park, and it will coincide with the Madrid Book Fair, which will also take place there on those dates. Accreditation for the pitching sessions for the 16 selected works can be obtained in person or online through the website.

Furthermore, by visiting the website, you may register for the session "Presenting Literary Works to the Audiovisual Sector," taught by expert lvaro Vega, as well as learn more about the round-table "Successful Adaptations for a Global Spanish-language Market." The latter will feature a slew of eminent professionals from the audiovisual and publishing industries, as well as a platform for everyone involved in the process of adapting a book for the screen (literary creation, rights management, production, distribution, and exhibition), with the goal of delving deeper into this growing phenomenon and the most recent developments in the field. Entry is free, and everyone interested is welcome to attend until capacity is achieved. It can also be seen live on the website.

This sixth invitation received 108 submissions, with 12 Spanish novels finally chosen to participate. They are as follows: Lo que la marea esconde by María Oruña (Destino, 2021), Los ingratos by Pedro Simón (Editorial Espasa, 2021), Coníferas by Marta Carnicero Hernanz (Acantilado, 2020), La mirada de la ausencia by Ana Iturgaiz (Editorial Roca, 2018), La fosa by Lola Montalvo (Edhasa, 2021), El club de las sombras. Ciudad de vampiros 1 by Martín Piñol (La Galera, 2021), Redención by Fernando Gamboa (Suma de letras, 2019), Premonición by Rosa Blasco (Maeva, 2021), El plan C by Anna Pólux (Les Editorial, 2019), Peregrinas by Joaquín Berges (Tusquets Editores, 2021), Recuérdame, Alice by Marta Santés (Ediciones Urano, 2022) and Malvarina, written by Susanna Isern with illustrations by Laura Proietti (Editorial Flamboyant, 2022).

For the first time, the event is available to international authors, with the goal of becoming an international meeting place for Spanish-speaking talent and the Spanish-language market, making Madrid the go-to global focal point for such literary adaptations. As a result, the following dramas have been chosen for this edition: Esto que me pasa by Fremdina Bianco (Notanpüan, Argentina), Como si no existieras by Susana Corcuera (Penguin Random House, Mexico), Mandato by Julio Céliz (Malisia, Argentina), and Imagina que rompes todo by Lina Mara Munar Guevara (Penguin Random House, Mexico) (Himpar Editores, Colombia).
