The PVLF Experience

From Disruptive Beginnings to Cultural Achievement

>Since the past four years, the PragatiE Vichaar Literature Festival (PVLF) has emerged as one of India's most groundbreaking movements in literature. What started as an idea to deflect the spotlight from lit fests featuring stars has now evolved into a reader-centric celebration of storytelling, culture, and creative perseverance.

>Each issue of PVLF has reflected Indian literature's growth — from intimate discussions to mass reader participation, from small gatherings to robust public movements. Entering PVLF 2026, we look back over the issues that created this path.

PVLF 2025

The Cultural Breakthrough

In the tranquil and heritage setting of Sunder Nursery, Delhi, PVLF 2025 was a reading experience like no other. This edition erased the boundaries of literature, art, performance, and space. With the theme of "Creating Resilience Through Storytelling," it showcased the emotional resilience that stories impart to readers and writers.

Writers such as Sudipta Bhawmik, Sharmistha Mukherjee, Dr. Aruna Kalra, and Megha Ahuja provided thought-provoking ideas on wellness, creativity, and lived experience. The awards garnered over 400,000 votes, once again demonstrating PVLF to be such a reader-driven platform. PVLF 2025 was not merely a festival — it was an Indian publishing milestone moment.

PVLF 2024

The People's Festival

In 2024, PVLF stepped into one of India's biggest cultural platforms — the New Delhi World Book Fair at Pragati Maidan. For the first time ever, the fair integrated itself into the public grounds, accommodating bigger masses, school groups, book lovers, and organic literary experiences.

The sessions were dynamic and diverse, with speakers like Shiv Khera, Ami Ganatra, Rajeev Peshawaria and Deepa Aggarwal. PVLF Junior made a full-fledged debut, giving children’s literature its own spotlight and a whole new generation of storytellers a voice. With powerful author interactions and a growing public footprint, 2024 was the year PVLF became a movement.

The Author Revolution

Coming back to The Claridges with even greater energy, PVLF 2023 intensified its partnership with Nielsen and FIP and doubled its efforts on discovering and emerging writers. It was the year the Author Marathon really blew up — a relay of voices from all over the nation.

The festival also included introspective sessions with J Sai Deepak, Ma Anand Sheela, Anand Neelkanthan, and Kaveree Bamzai, to name just a few. But then, it was the people's choice that made history: over 100,000 readers voted for their favourite books and writers, and PVLF was the most democratically launched Indian literary award platform.

The Year of Foundations

PVLF commenced in 2022 with a vision to re-define literary accolades. Organized at The Claridges, New Delhi, and conducted in association with Nielsen and the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP), this edition began with the foundation for all that PVLF would be.

The emphasis was keen: empower writers, reach out to readers, and ground all this in real-time publication statistics. The festival had speakers such as Shubha Vilas, Devdutt Pattanaik, and Samir Soni, and included awards recognizing real merit — from first-time writers to editorial prowess.
