Delivery of Publishing Promises is Crucial
A recent consumer commission ruling from Punjab has highlighted an issue that every author should be aware of – delivery of publishing promises made is crucial.
As per a report in The Indian Express, an advocate had paid Rs 8,000 to a publication company for publishing services which include processing of ISBN, designing of the book and printing and listing on the website. As the promised publishing services were not delivered, the author had filed a case before the consumer commission.
The commission has ordered the company to refund Rs 8,000 and pay Rs 15,000 towards compensation and litigation cost.
However, for an author, besides just publishing a book, there should be a journey which includes visibility, discoverability and connection with readers.
This is what we aim to do at Frontlist as we help authors create a presence by providing author pages, e-magazine presence, publishing visibility and presence on social media sites.
As publishing the book is just the first step; being discovered is the other.
