The Parliament was informed on Monday that the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has yet to grant accreditation to at least 695 universities and over 34000 colleges nationwide.
Subhas Sarkar, a junior minister of education, provided the information in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha. ‘ According to a report from the UGC, out of the 1,113 universities and 43,796 colleges, the Minister stated in the Lok Sabha. 34,734 colleges are currently in operation without NAAC accreditation, he claimed.
