NCERT Eliminates Chapters on Mughal Empire and other Topics from Textbooks

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has changed its textbooks, notably the 12th class History textbook, by eliminating chapters on the Mughal Empire. The adjustment will be implemented in all NCERT-accredited schools across the country.

Chapters connected to 'Kings and Chronicles, the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)' have been omitted from the History book 'Themes of Indian History-Part 2' beginning with Class 12.

Similarly, several poems and paragraphs will be removed from Hindi textbooks by NCERT.

According to NCERT, these modifications will be implemented beginning with the current academic year, 2023-2024.

The Civics book for the 12th grade has been changed with the History and Hindi textbooks. Two chapters from the book headed 'American Hegemony in International Politics' and 'The Cold War Period' has yet to be included.

Continuing with the revisions, two chapters from the Class 12th textbook 'Indian Politics after Independence,' namely 'Rise of Popular Movements' and 'Period of One Party Domination,' have been eliminated.

Modifications have been made in Class 10th and 11th textbooks, such as chapters on 'Democracy and Diversity,' 'Popular Struggles and Movements,' and 'Challenges of Democracy' have been eliminated from Class 10th book 'Democratic Politics-2'.

Chapters such as "Central Islamic Regions," "Clash of Cultures," and "Industrial Revolution" have been removed from the Class 11th textbook "Themes in Global History."

Senior authorities confirmed these modifications, saying that the new syllabus and materials were revised this year and are being applied in various schools.
