Muscat International Book Fair Attracts 6.5 Lakh Visitors

The 29th Muscat Book Fair drew 6.5 lakh visitors, showcasing 600,000 titles, cultural events, and global literary voices, including strong Indian presence.

Oman: Muscat International Book Fair drew 6,49,589 people in ten day event. The fair ended in great success at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The record breaking visitor number reflects the increasing stature of fair as a hub of the region's intellectual and cultural life.

Theme Of The Edition

The theme of 29th year edition fair was "Cultural Diversity: Enriching Civilisations." The fair hosted 674 publishers from 35 nations, including India.

It presented a whopping 600,000 titles in Arabic and other foreign languages. Of these were more than 19,000 pieces by Omani writers, attesting to the Sultanate's booming literary scene.

Cultural programs And Children Activities

Fair had over 211 cultural programs and 155 children activities specially dedicated to it, such as storytelling sessions, workshops, and author meet-and-greets.

India's participation added more depth to the event with a robust presence of Indian literature, educational publishers, and cultural presentations that appealed to the multi-lingual audience.

Event For All Generations

Fair is carefully planned to be an integral cultural event for all generations, inspiring reading passion, stimulating intellectual discourse, and bridging tradition and modernity.

Through providing a broad range of books, interactive programs and educational activities, it inculcates curiosity in young minds while offering a lively venue for scholars, writers, and thinkers to connect with the broader community.

Sheikh Al Mahrouqi Speaks

Director General of International media, Sheikh Al Mahrouqi added, "This Book Fair is a cultural hub attracting families looking for enriching experiences as well as the intellectual leaders who see it as a critical platform for literary ideas and thought leadership."

She also added, "The large turnout—over half a million visitors—clearly shows the fair's importance not just to Omanis but to our numerous foreign visitors as well."

As the fair continues to expand its size and sway, organizers hope it will further cement Oman's reputation as a crossroads for literature, learning, and cultural exchange in the region.
