India’s Literary Tradition Gets Spotlight at 2026 Baku International Book Fair
The literary, cultural and spiritual legacy of India is catching attention at the 12th edition of the Baku International Book Fair in Azerbaijan, as the Indian Embassy in Azerbaijan has set up a special stall to present the rich traditions of the country.
The Indian stall was inaugurated by Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan, Mr. Abhay Kumar, who welcomed Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, at the event. Ambassador Mr. Abhay Kumar introduced Mr. Karimli to some books representing the literary tradition, culture and civilization of India.
Exchange Between Books Featuring Gandhi and Hanuman Chalisa
As part of the exchange program, Ambassador Abhay Kumar gave Minister Karimli a biography book written on Mahatma Gandhi in the Azerbaijani language. Furthermore, he also gave him his own English version of the book named “Hanuman Chalisa” which emphasized the importance of books in spreading Indian philosophy.
This indicated that books can play an effective role in bridging the cultural gap between India and Azerbaijan.

Not only books but also brochures on different tourist destinations have been displayed at the stall, thus motivating people to explore the country.
India and Promotion through Literature

By showcasing various aspects of history, spirituality and modern culture through literature, the exhibition provides Azerbaijani audience with an opportunity to get acquainted with various dimensions of India.
The 12th Baku International Book Fair is scheduled to take place from October 21 to 25, 2026, at Baku Expo Center, while the overall national programme will continue till October 27. Indian booth is situated at Pavilion 2, Booth P2-039.
