Book Review

Amit Majmudar’s debuts in the children’s space with a lot more humor and hilarious takes with “Heroes The Colour Of Dust”.

The story revolves around the events of the Dandi March featuring Strong and daring sparrows. Amit talks about daring birds, narrow escapes, bitterness, tragic backstories, sneaky sahibs, and stalwart Indians in this story where animals vow to protect Gandhiji and help India rid itself of its settlers in a humorous manner.

The book does speak about some deep rooted issues in a way that the children can enjoy reading. The sparrows were represented as a metaphor as they were being described as powerless individuals who can be so ambitious that they can be capable of doing great things when they unite in a virtuous cause. The idea of a Brahminy Kite is also Unique and distinctive and teaming up with a sparrow for a common cause. The almost comical teaming up of human and bird was so honest and creative.

At last Amit Majmudar did justice to all the characters to make this story appealing and humorous.
