The chief minister said she writes in between her everyday work, such as fitness training in the morning and signing official documents.

Seven books written by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have been released at the ongoing International Kolkata Book Fair.

Banerjee has a total of 143 books to her credit.

"I believe I will publish more than 150 volumes in a year. Last year, it was 136, and now it is 143. "By next year, it will be 150," she stated at the book fair's launch on Thursday.

She claimed she writes in between her everyday tasks, such as fitness training in the morning and signing government documents.

Apu Dey of Dey's Publishing told PTI that the latest publications included 'Laho Pronam', 'Charay Charay 2nd Volume', 'Trinamool Storey Trinamooler Joy', which recorded the TMC's triumph in the 2021 assembly elections, and 'Utsab Sabar' (festival for all).
'Build Heritage of Bengal,' an English translation of a Bengali book written by the Chief Minister about 1850 heritage structures in the state, was also released at the book festival, according to Esha Chatterjee of BEE Books.

At the inaugural ceremony, Banerjee presented British High Commissioner Alex Ellis with an English translation of her poetry collection 'Kabita Bitan'. Ellis then read some lines from the book.

Sudhangshu Dey of Dey's Publishing described Banerjee as a legend who paints, writes, and composes music.

"There has always been a great demand for her books in every book fair," he went on to say.
