Ahmedabad University Organizes History Literature Festival

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) produced the first indigenous computer, the TIFR Automatic Calculator (TIFRAC), in 1960, which was on par with its American counterparts, while India was struggling to produce an "All-Indian" typewriter to compete with foreign dominance over the ubiquitous commercial office machine in the 1950s.

There are still typewriters outside courts in India, even though laptops have already surpassed the popularity of PCs, demonstrating how several eras coexist in a nation like India.

That was one of the discussions on Sunday at Ahmedabad University during the second and final day of the first History Literary Festival. Dayasindhu N, Vrunda Pathare, Somraj Singh Jhala, Yograj Singh, Sonal Ved, Kanchan Marathe, Prakash Magdum, Arunaraje Patil, Mallika Sarabhai, and Ami Ganatra were a few of the speakers on the second day. The participants discussed a wide range of subjects, including the history of typewriters and computers, Gujarat's princely kingdoms, the history of Indian food, key moments in Hindi cinema, and Indian philosophy.

One of the presenters on the first day and linguist Peggy Mohan told a media outlet that, when closely examined, nouns and retroflex might provide information about the development of languages. Her discussion of the history of Indian languages was interspersed with comments about how artificial intelligence is changing our relationship with language. She added that languages provide us with information on migration and the words that alter forms.

The history and practice of Indian classical music are unusual because it has always wrestled between the entire independence and the completely rule-bound style, according to Srijan Deshpande, a music historian and one of the presenters at the event. "Ragas provide the syntax, but an artist is allowed to experiment.

Western classical music is composed of music that has already been performed. This sense of what is acceptable and what is not has changed throughout the years by contemporary ideas," he added.
