The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has highlighted Sharjah’s strategic vision for knowledge and publishing during its participation in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF 2026), which continues until 3 February.

At its pavilion, the SBA presented its cultural initiatives and long-term commitment to books as a catalyst for development, dialogue, and intellectual exchange. The fair — one of the Arab world’s oldest and biggest cultural gatherings — attracts millions of visitors, publishers, and thinkers from across the region and internationally.

Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, visited the Sharjah pavilion, where he was welcomed by Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the SBA. During the meeting, Al Ameri gifted him and Egypt’s Minister of Culture signed copies of works by Sharjah’s Ruler, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, as well as a book by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the SBA. These presentations symbolised the strong cultural ties between Sharjah and Egypt.

Commenting on the participation, Al Ameri noted that Sharjah’s involvement reflects a vision that places books at the heart of knowledge cooperation and strengthens partnerships with Egyptian publishers and cultural institutions. He described the Prime Minister’s visit as a testament to Egypt’s deep respect for culture and the role of publishing in intellectual development.

At the fair, which includes over 1,450 publishers from 83 countries and hundreds of events and book signings, Sharjah’s pavilion served as a platform to expand collaboration in authorship, translation, and distribution, supporting growth in the Arab publishing sector and fostering cross-border cultural connections.
