Books Worth ₹1.10 Cr Sold at Thoothukudi Book Fair

Thoothukudi Collector K.Elambahavath declared on Sunday that books worth ₹1.10 crore were sold during the 10-day long book fair in Thoothukudi.
The book fair conducted by the district administration in association with Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI), was opened by Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Minister P. Geetha Jeevan on August 22, had a footfall of nearly one lakh individuals.
Addressing during the closing of the fair organizing Mr. Elambahavath pointed out that more than one lakh individuals visited the book fair with significant involvement from school and college students. In the event he also praised the efforts of the officials who are the backbone of the success of the book fair.
At the Ms. Geetha Jeevan pointed out that these book fairs are even developing reading culture among the new reader other than voracious readers.
Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor Jegan Periyasamy, District Forest Officer Revti Raman, District Revenue Officer A. Ravichandran, Additional Collector (training) Bhuvanesh Ram and other officials attended.
