I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings By Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou’s debut memoir “I know why the Caged Bird Sings”  is a modern American classic that is widely acclaimed across the world.  Maya Angelou penned her memorable childhood and depicts all situations that happened in Black Community which change her outlook towards life. She underlines many narratives which discover the meaning of life. Throughout the book,  Maya talks about the triumphs, losses, dignity, and courage of the black community.  This book illustrates three-year-old Maya and her four-year-old brother, Bailey who moved to Arkansas (Black Neighbourhood) and lived with their grandmother. She experienced a lot of life-changing moments while living with her grandmother.   One day, all of a sudden their dead dad came into their lives and took them to their motherhouse where Maya met Mr.Freeman, her mother’s boyfriend. She got raped by him and shook her life at the age of 8 which left severe marks in her life.  Throughout the rest of the book, you can see a difference in Maya after the rape. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings captures the longing of lonely children, the brutal insult of bigotry, and the wonder of words that can fix the world.  Maya Angelou is one of the well-known authors who creates a compelling bond between characters,  portrays the story very powerfully, and also makes you feel every emotion throughout the story. She wrote explicit details on her rape and how it affected her as a person in this book.  This story is not only uplifting to the many people in the black community but also,  other communities of people who have had many losses and victories in their lives.  I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings will touch hearts and change minds for as long as people read.
