Seoul International Book Fair 2026 to Lead Global Debate on AI, Authorship & the Future of Reading
Seoul International Book Fair 2026 will debate AI’s role in publishing, exploring creativity, authorship, ethics, and how writers and readers adapt to evolving technology.on Mar 23, 2026
The Seoul International Book Fair in 2026 will be a major venue to highlight the rise of Artificial Intelligence in the fields of books and publishing. The primary objective for the 2026 Seoul International Book Fair is to address this subject with our attendees by addressing the question “How can readers and writers deal with the emergence of Artificial Intelligence?”
As new creative AI tools are coming online at unprecedented speed, our goal for the Seoul International Book Fair is to connect authors, publishers, and subject matter experts to hold discussions on how those new tools will impact creativity, authorship, and the concept of intellectual ownership in the literary field. We will have discussions regarding how to view AI, i.e., is it a collaborative tool that enhances creativity, or is it a disruptive force in our effort to verify the validity of human expression.
Another major area of concern that will be covered will be in the area of how the relationship between authors and their readers is evolving with the introduction of AI as a means to generate literary content. With AI being used to create literary works, what does that mean for the concepts of originality, credibility, and emotional connection in literature? These types of questions will be addressed, as well as the issue of ethics (including copyright issues, data usage and ethical boundaries between human and machine created works).
The concept for the 2023 Seoul International Book Fair is to hold discussions with panels and global participants in order to facilitate an open dialogue about the current opportunities that AI presents as well as recognize the potential risks that AI may pose to the publishing industry as a whole. As a result, it positions itself as an opportunity to consider how literature will be affected in future societies where the usage of artificial intelligence continues to increase.
