            <![CDATA[ <p>According to the most recent statistics from the Association of American Publishers' StatShot programme, US publishers' revenues decreased by 6.4% in 2022, according to Publishers Weekly.</p><p>Sales from the 1372 publications that submit data totalled US$12.6 billion (A$18.7 billion), a decrease from US$13.5 billion (A$20.1 billion) in 2021. All publishing categories had lower sales, including children's/YA book sales, which fell 5.7% and adult book sales, which fell 6.4%. Professional books plummeted 5.5%, higher education course materials fell 10.3%, and religious titles fell 6.1%.</p><p>The hardcover sales loss of 16.2% was a major contributor to the decline in the trade category. Sales of trade paperbacks climbed 3.7%. Sales of audiobooks increased digitally by 7.9%, while ebook sales decreased by 5.5%.</p><p>As was previously mentioned, according to NPD BookScan data, print book sales in the US increased by 6.5% in 2022 compared to 2021.</p> ]]>
