            <![CDATA[ <p>Over 4 lakh individuals, including 42,000 students from 700 schools, attended the 11-day Madurai Book Fair.</p><p>The Madurai district administration arranged the event in collaboration with the Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India, and the directorate of public libraries sold 3.5 crore books.</p><p>The book fair was started on September 6 by State Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister P Moorthy. It featured 230 stalls offering a variety of books, and the school education department managed for students to visit during the fair's duration.</p><p>Evenings featured cultural programs by school and college students, as well as literary discussions and debates led by notable authors and speakers.</p><p>Due to its popularity, the district administration extended the fair, scheduled initially from September 6th to 16th, to one more day- 17th September.</p><p>At the closing ceremony on Tuesday, the district authorities managed and rewarded all the volunteers and students who participated.</p> ]]>
