<![CDATA[ Coimbatore Book Fair to start on July 22 ]]> The sixth Coimbatore Book Fair will open on July 22 after a two-year hiatus, with organisers planning to display nearly two lakh books.

The highlight of the event is a recital of 1,330 Thirukkural verses on July 28 by 3,000 children in one location.

Over 300 publishers will set up booths during the 10-day event, and more than one lakh students are anticipated to visit the booths, District Collector G S Sameeran told reporters on Tuesday.

According to him, the life achievement award would be given to the archaeologist Kudavayil M Balasubramanian and citations and cash awards of Rs 25,000 will be given to three young writers.

The district administration, Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA), and the Booksellers & Publishers Association of South India together organise the event (BAPASI).
