            <![CDATA[ <p>The Chandigarh Government has announced the distribution of free textbooks to all registered students at the elementary level (classes I to VIII) in government and government-aided schools for the academic session 2023-24 to promote education and ensure access to learning materials.</p><p>The program is funded by the Samagra Shiksha grant and has a budget of Rs 305.263 lakh.</p><p>Free textbooks are intended to benefit all 97,263 pupils in government and government-aided elementary schools, including 55,860 in primary courses and 41,403 in upper primary classes.</p><p>The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the Punjab School Education Board have provided textbooks (PSEB).</p><p>According to the UT Department of School Education information, textbooks have already been sent to 18 of the university's 20 clusters.</p><p>According to the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), 2021-22 report, all primary students in government and government-aided schools would receive free textbooks as part of the Samagra Shiksha initiative for the 2023-24 school year.</p><ul><li>Textbooks have been purchased from NCERT and PSEB as part of the Rs 305.263-lakh effort sanctioned under the Samagra Shiksha grant.</li><li>NCERT has already given 4,24,875 volumes out of the 4,89,910 ordered by UT, with the remaining 51,000 books to be obtained from the PSEB in the next two days.</li></ul> ]]>
