Porto Book Fair 2025 Returns with 17 Days of Events
From Aug 22–Sept 7, Porto Book Fair fills Crystal Palace Gardens with books, concerts, films, and a tribute to Sérgio Godinho.on Aug 22, 2025

The 12th edition of the Porto Livraria Book Fair, the capital's largest literary event, comes back to the iconic Crystal Palace Gardens from August 22 to September 7. During 17 days, there are a few free initiatives ahead of you.
This year, the organization chose to pay tribute to the famous composer and writer Sérgio Godinho. But it is not the first time that a 'song writer' has been focused on, as José Mário Branco was in 2018.
A tribute to one of the voices of freedom
Sérgio Godinho requires no presentation on the Portuguese cultural scene. Born in Porto in 1945, he is thus one of the most impressive individuals from Porto today.
Described as one of the great voices of freedom, specifically because of the song of the same name, written in 1974, he has a number of hits in his career, including "O Primeiro Dia" and "É Terça-feira", to mention but a few.
With over 20 albums, Sérgio Godinho has been awarded multiple distinctions and awards. His writing, though, is by no means limited to the realm of songs, as he has authored multiple novels and chronicles.
Throughout the Porto Book Fair, the show "O Meu Sérgio", a comic book publishing project, will be opened. The composer, singer, writer and poet will also be celebrated in the following manner:
- Award of the City Medal
- Granting of a linden tree in the Crystal Palace Gardens
