Penguin Random House Says It Holds Exclusive Rights to General Naravane’s Memoir, No Copies Published

Penguin Random House India has released an official clarification on the memoir Four Stars of Destiny written by General Manoj Mukund Naravane who is the former Chief of the Indian Army. The publisher issued a statement noting that they are the only entity that has the right to publish this book and that there have not been any printed copies or digital copies published thus far for public use.

According to the statement from Penguin Random House India, they would like to clarify that no printed or digital copies of this book have been published or distributed to anyone. The publisher indicated that it was necessary to issue this clarification due to recent public comments related to media coverage of this subject.

In addition, the publisher of Penguin Random House India advises that any copies in circulation; printed, pdf, digital format, etc., are not authorized by the publisher and that the publisher of this book will take legal actions as permitted by law against anyone who disseminates or distributes unreleased copies of the memoir at this time.

This publisher's clarification comes on the heels of a political controversy created in India related to Congressman Rahul Gandhi having a copy of the memoir present with him in Parliament although the memoir has not yet had an official release date set.

The statement by Penguin Random House India again emphasises that no official copies have been made available, despite indications from online listings.
