            <![CDATA[ <p>Ashoka University has collaborated with Westland Books to introduce a novel translation program, which aims to reach out to a greater number of audiences all around the world through the process of translating Indian literature into English.</p><p>The project is titled 'An Ashoka Centre for Translation Series' and has been planned in association with Ashoka Centre for Translation, which is part of the university itself.</p><p>This project will include a well-curated list of books over a period of time, starting with four translated books of Bengali short stories. Each book will be curated by the respective translator of that book, thereby not only giving access to the book itself but also its literary importance.</p><p>Some of the renowned Bengali authors include Saratchandra Chattopadhyay, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, Anita Agnihotri &amp; Sangeeta Bandyopadhyay. The first book from the series, which is a compilation of short stories by Saratchandra Chattopadhyay, translated by Anchita Ghatak, is scheduled to come out on 13th April through the imprint of Ekadā.</p><p>Recognized as one of the most important writers in modern Indian literature, Chattopadhyay’s stories reflect not only their strong social connection but also their emotional power.</p><p>Speaking about the project, the co-directors of the Ashoka Centre for Translation, Arunava Sinha and Rita Kothari, pointed out that it was created to present different types of writing by Indian authors in various languages.</p><p>In addition, the translation series will be further enriched with works written in other Indian languages in order to introduce Indian tales into the global literary community.</p><p><br>&nbsp;</p> ]]>
