The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) is participating in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025, reasserting Emirati innovativeness in the world's largest publishing conference, from 15th to 19th October, and gathering thousands of international publishers, writers, and cultural experts.
The engagement fits EPA's vision of establishing long-term professional relationships and enhancing a sustainable Emirati publishing system with the ability to evolve in response to global changes and provide insights to the global publishing world.
EPA is showcased by a unified stand with seven Emirati publishing companies: Ghaf Publishing, Thaqafa Publishing and Distribution, Ajyaal Publishing House, University Book House, Austin Macauley Publishers, Bumelha Publishing & Distribution, and Ugarit Publishing. Books on the stand are preceded by QR codes that direct to English summaries and contact information, enhancing rights sales and international cooperation.
Among this year's participation highlights is the release of two German translations of Ajyaal Publishing House titles in partnership with Weltentdecker Verlag: An Elephant on My Finger, 2023 Etisalat Award for Arabic Children's Literature winner, and A Tale of Two Colours, 2023 Sharjah Children's Book Award winner. Ajyaal also inked deals with Asian Book House to translate An Elephant on My Finger into Russian and Uzbek, cementing the international spread of Arabic children's literature.
EPA's initiative involves a formal reception that unites Emirati and foreign publishers to facilitate discussions, feature publications, and promote the UAE's publishing strength as a crossroads for cultural exchange.
Rashid Al Kous, EPA Executive Director, stated the fair is a milestone in spreading Emirati publishing globally. He further commented that the association's attendance is for the purpose of promoting rights exchange, translation chances, and collaboration throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America toward a globally competitive and culturally grounded publishing industry.
During the fair, EPA is conducting meetings and networking amongst Emirati publishers, international counterparts, and book fair organizers to broaden cooperation, enhance professional relationships, and boost Emirati literature in international markets.
