Bulgaria Shines as Guest of Honour at Podgorica Book Fair

Bulgaria is the guest of honour at the 19th International Book and Education Fair in Podgorica, which gathers literary representatives from across Europe. Bulgaria's national presentation, including over 40 publishers and 150 titles, was organized by the Bulgarian Book Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Bulgarian Embassy in Montenegro.

In the framework of the fair's programme, Vice President Iliana Iotova officially opened the exhibition Alphabet and History, which presented Bulgaria's contribution to European writing and cultural heritage.

Writers Zdravka Evtimova and Georgi Bardarov will greet guests at the Bulgarian national stand, and the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a concert. The Technical University of Sofia will exhibit its educational programmes and the Ivan Vazov National Theatre will stage the play Elementary Particles. The Belonoga music group will perform as well, and the Richness of Colours and Traditions exhibition will give a glimpse into Bulgarian cultural identity.

"Bulgarian participation in this fair is a chance to introduce our publishers, authors and translators to the world, as well as our culture and modern-day literary life," said Desislava Alexieva, Bulgarian Book Association President.

The Book Fair of Podgorica remains a solid platform for cultural exchange in the Balkans and Europe. Bulgaria's designation as Guest of Honour this year honours its contribution to regional and European cooperation within literature and publishing, the organisers said.
