<![CDATA[ With over Rs 2 crore sales, Pudukkottai Book Fair comes to an end ]]> Pudukkottai district's 5th annual book fair, which ended on Sunday, observed a footfall of round one lakh in college students alone and recorded over Rs. 2 crore in sales. The numbers are attributed to the district administration's aid, particularly in drawing schoolchildren there.

Thanga Moorthy, one of the organisers of book honest which started on July 29 at Town Hall, stated college students from nearly three hundred colleges and schools in the district were in attendance. Sales clocked above Rs 2 crore, which was higher in comparison to different years, he added. In the ten days of the fair, eminent personalities were invited from all over Tamil Nadu to speak.

The moment a speaker suggested a good book, it was eagerly sold. According to him, it was encouraging, he stated. When requested which book was in demand, he replied, "Ponniyin Selvan". 

While S Murugesan of NCBH stall stressed on the district administration’s support in drawing keen schoolchildren in the book fair, Laxmi Priya of the Kalachuvadu stall stated,

“We promote serious literature. On an average, I would say it wasn’t profitable.” The daily collection had not crossed Rs 10,000, Priya told. 

While E Sudhakar, a student bought the Tamil translation of John Perkins’ 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' and a book with the aid of using V Irai Anbu, M Rajarajeshwari, another student, told her teachers advised on the best books available. Students from classes 6-12 got here in two buses. It was a great experience, she added.
