            <![CDATA[ <p>Hachette India has made a historic leadership change with Riti Jagoorie as the new Managing Director, taking over from Thomas Abraham, the founding MD who steps down after a glorious 18-year career. Jagoorie will take over officially in January 2026, beginning a new era for the publishing house that Abraham founded from scratch.</p><p>Abraham, who joined Hachette in 2007 after running Penguin India, turned Hachette India into a 100-crore publishing behemoth from an INR 8 crore start-up. Under Abraham's leadership, the company not only grew profitably but also achieved record industry-leading hardback sales such as blockbusters Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Playing It My Way by Sachin Tendulkar.</p><p>Stepping into the top role, Jagoorie brings 17 years of deep industry expertise, having joined Hachette India in 2008 as product manager. Now VP of Product &amp; Marketing, she has played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s key publishing imprints, spearheading record-setting campaigns and bestsellers including Indra Nooyi’s My Life in Full and The Silent Patient.</p><p>"I'm proud to take over Thomas's mantle and head a team that's established such a robust publishing brand," Jagoorie said. "This is a thrilling time for Indian publishing, and I look forward to writing our next chapter of growth."</p><p>Hachette UK International CEO Charlie King called Jagoorie a "razor-sharp commercial leader with vision", while Abraham called her book and business instincts "exceptional".</p><p>With Jagoorie's promotion, Hachette India is among the largest publishing companies in India to have a woman at the helm—something significant for an industry that is changing with new styles of leadership and new ideas.</p> ]]>
