            <![CDATA[ <p>The winners of the 2023 National Book Awards have been revealed in the United States.</p><p>The winners in each category are:</p><p><strong>Fiction</strong></p><p>Blackouts (Justin Torres, FSG)</p><p><strong>Nonfiction</strong></p><p>The Rediscovery of America: Native peoples and the unmaking of US history (Ned Blackhawk, Yale University Press)</p><p><strong>Poetry</strong></p><p>from unincorporated territory [åmot] (Craig Santos Perez, Omnidawn)<br>Translated literature</p><p>The Words That Remain (Stênio Gardel, trans by Bruna Dantas Lobato, New Vessel)</p><p><strong>Young people’s literature</strong></p><p>A First Time for Everything (Dan Santat, First Second).</p><p>There were also two lifetime achievement medals given out. Rita Dove, a poet, received the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, while Paul Yamazaki, a bookseller at City Lights, received the Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the Literary Community.</p><p>The winners were picked from among the finalists released earlier this month. The National Book Foundation of the United States administers the awards.</p> ]]>
